The signature event of our 2010 Reunion in Penticton will be the Gala Dinner/Dance on Friday evening in the main ballroom of the Lakeside Resort. The venue is spacious and we've reserved it all. We want lots of room for dining & dancing, and staging the great 21 piece band we are especially bussing in from Vancouver for the evening.
The Dinner Reception will start at 6:00 PM. Since we all hate lineups, there will be four (4) cash bars and NO tickets, and soft drinks will be free. Our Gala Dinner follows at 7:00 PM. Seating will generally be by Squadron within Wing areas, all at tables of ten. The entrees of the four-course meal will be a choice of BC salmon and Prime Rib. Special dietary entrees, as prearranged, will also be available. Fruit of the Vine will be in abundance of course, as this is, after all, wine season in the Okanagan. There will be three (3) SPAADS labelled bottles of renowned local wine on each table. Come desert, the dancing will start.
It will be hard to resist toe-tappin' and dancing to the large Bruce James Swing Band. Its vocalists are also great.. The band plays our era and a little on both sides. They promise everything from 'wartime' Andrews Sisters and Vera Lynn through Glenn Miller, Louis Armstrong and Elvis. (Sorry, Michael Jackson didn't make the cut. Waltzes and polkas did!) The band was a great hit in Langley recently at the Canadian Museum-of-Flight's 100th Anniversary of Flight Dinner/Dance. There will be NO speeches, only a welcome and a few intros. This will be true party time!
